I’ve been lucky enough to learn some of the best strategies for both B2B and B2C marketing & business development, while working at industry leading companies Intel, Vodafone and NETGEAR.
In 2008, an ex-colleague from Vodafone, Fred Wilkinson, approached me to help launch his business idea – making corporate quality CRM systems accessible and affordable for small and medium sized businesses.
As with many start-ups, we both played every single role in BPI OnDemand – marketing, sales, account manager, project manager and even system implementation consultant, as well as managing the day to day operations and growth of the company.
Building BPI OnDemand and working with many businesses from a wide range of industries, gave me an amazing insight and bank of knowledge on the challenges and opportunities of growing businesses…and remember, this was all taking place back at the heart of the financial crisis.
BPI OnDemand has grown to be an award winning Oracle CX/CRM Reseller Partner, with global customers, and along with delivering ever increasing volume of customers & sales, BPI OnDemand is regularly voted as Number 1 by independent customer user groups, which pays tribute to the whole customer experience Fred, myself and the team at BPI OnDemand have developed.
Life Changing Moment
In June 2014 I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukaemia – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). After 3 months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, I had a successful bone marrow transplant, from my brother, James.
I was in remission for 6 months before I relapsed with ALL again, this time behind my right eye, in my heart and my kidney. The doctors gave me 2 months to live and I received a new chemotherapy drug, but only as palliative care, so I could spend the last couple of months at home with my wife, Helen and 2 young children, Eloise and Oscar.
I always chose to fight the leukaemia and believe I would survive, and this time was no different. I continued the complimentary therapy and focused nutrition care approach (reiki, reflexology, hypnotherapy, chiropractic and more) from my amazing wife Helen (a reflexologist and clinical hypnotherapist), Reiki Master Sarah Turner and Chiropractor Mike McGinn, that I had adopted throughout the illness, and 21 days after the terminal diagnosis, further tests showed no sign of the leukaemia. (You can read more about my fight with leukaemia on the Leuka website Leuka – Michael’s story )
At this point I realised I’d been given a second chance at life, and this is when I decided, that along with spending far more of my time focused on family and living life, I wanted to spend my time doing the one thing that I am really passionate about – helping other companies to get and keep great customers…and so Beyond-Consulting was born.
